New Year, New Will?

by | Jan 18, 2022 | Wills & Estates

We have said goodbye to 2021 and welcomed in 2022.  What are the resolutions you have made for this year… .a family holiday, a new home or maybe a new job?  Whatever they may be, we wish you every success in achieving them.  One thing that may be on the list of resolutions, or it may even just be in the back of your mind, is the preparation or the updating of a Will, especially when you have spent time over the Christmas and New Year period with family and loved ones.

It is essential to understand that a Will is not locked in, and whatever happens in your life, it can be updated and amended to reflect your wishes.  So, should any of the following ring true for you for your 2021 or should they occur in 2022, you should be considering updating or making a new Will:

  • Marriage or entering de facto relationship;
  • The breakdown of a relationship;
  • The death of a loved one;
  • Starting a family;
  • Buying or selling a home;
  • Retirement; or
  • Health concerns.

Having a Will is a way to ensure that your assets will be distributed the way you want after your death.  Our lawyers specialising in wills will work with you to create a Will that offers protection of your assets, sets out your wishes clearly and provides you with the peace of mind that your estate will be managed after your death.  For more information please contact us on 03 9614 7111 or email at melbourne@nevettford.com.au.
