Is 2024 the year you make a Will?

by | Jan 16, 2024 | Wills & Estates

We are now already over 2 weeks into 2024 and as we all return to work and our holidays become a faint memory, you may have started thinking about your goals for this year.

Did you make any resolutions for 2024?  Maybe a family holiday, a new home or maybe a new job?  Whatever they may be, we wish you every success in achieving them.

One thing that we would recommend always having on your yearly to-do or goals list is either making a new Will, updating your previous Will or simply reviewing your current Will to ensure it still reflects your wishes.

When you make a Will, it is not a document that is ‘locked in’ and whatever happens in your life, you can always update or amount it to reflect your wishes.  So, should any of the following ring true for you for your 2023 or should they occur in 2024, you should be considering updating or making a new Will:

  • Marriage or entering de facto relationship;
  • The breakdown of a relationship;
  • The death of a loved one;
  • Starting a family;
  • Buying or selling a home;
  • Retirement;
  • Starting a new business; or
  • Health concerns.

Having a Will is a way to ensure that your assets will be distributed the way you want after your death.  Our Wills and Estates Team will work with you to provide you with tailored solutions that will offer protection of your assets, sets out your wishes clearly and provide you with the peace of mind that your estate will be managed after your death.  For more information please contact us on 03 9614 7111 or email at melbourne@nevettford.com.au.
