South Australian Skilled Migration has announced that significant changes to South Australia’s two Designated Area Migration Agreements (DAMAs) following the first annual review and the opening of the Business Visas program.
These include the following:
DAMA Update Occupation Lists
New occupations have been added to the DAMAs that focus on Commonwealth Government’s priority occupations/sectors of health care, manufacturing, high-tech sectors, agribusiness and food production. The Adelaide City Technology and Innovation Advancement DAMA allows South Australian employers to sponsor overseas workers in the defence, space, advanced manufacturing and technology industries –
metropolitan occupations. The South Australian Regional Workforce DAMA allows employers across the entire state of South Australia to sponsors overseas workers-
regional occupations. The South Australian agribusiness occupation list is also now available.
Concessions and PR Pathways South Australia also reports that all DAMA occupations will now have a permanent residency pathway through SC 482 to SC 186 or SC 494 to SC 191 (when commenced).
- Further additional English language and age, in addition to TSMIT concessions, have been secured and these will also extend to the permanent visa for some DAMA occupations.
- Changes to work experience requirements will also make it easier for qualified international graduates to be eligible to apply.
Skills Assessing Authority
The South Australian Government has been approved to act as a skills assessing authority for occupations that require a skills assessment that currently has no alternative skills assessment authority. This will allow previously ineligible occupations to now be available for skilled migration, ensuring workers filling those positions are appropriately skilled.
